The Cost

Susmita and Susmita

What does it cost to volunteer with The Love Company?

  • 4 weeks 495 Euros
  • 3 weeks 395 Euros
  • 2 weeks 355 Euros
  • 1 week 285 Euros

This fee goes DIRECTLY to the children! All companies you volunteer with that send you to TLC will take an extra fee, generally making it more costly for the volunteers. Most companies take as much as 80-90% as their profit, and only give 10-20% to TLC! Although there are some ethical companies who take a much more ethical amount that covers solely their cost to run their business, it is always cheapest to volunteer directly through the orphanage itself.

What is covered in this cost?

  1. Two meals/day and accommodation at the placement
  2. Airport pick up and hotel accommodation in Kathmandu (if we are not there to receive you personally, we will pay back these expenses once you are in Pokhara)
  3. Bus fare from Kathmandu to Pokhara and to placement (again, if we are not there to receive you personally, we will pay back this expense once you are in Pokhara)
  4. One day sight seeing to the mountain villages
  5. Simple Nepali language/culture teaching
  6. Bus ticket from Pokhara to Kathmandu
  7. The priceless experience of meeting our enthusiastic children and experiencing Nepal

Note: Aside from #2 and #3, no money will be refunded once you start your placement.

The government of Nepal no longer lets volunteers stay at the orphanage. This is why you will stay in a hotel.

If you are volunteering at The Love Company orphanage, you will be staying at a Pokhara hotel, a 25 minute walk to the orphanage. There will be clean bedroom with attached bathroom, solar heated hot shower and WIFI. It is close to the tourist centre (Lakeside), where there are many shops, activities, and nightlife for you to enjoy. Even if you come alone, you will soon make many friends at the orphanage and in the Lakeside area!

If you are volunteering in the village, you will be staying at the family house and going to a community school to volunteer. School starts  at 10 am. If you are volunteering in the village, your toilet room and shower will be out side of the house.

If you are volunteering at the local clinic, you will be staying at a family house and going there at 10 am. The walking distance will be 10 minutes.

*Of course, you choose where you wish to volunteer.

Within Pokhara, in Lakeside you will have many options on food which you wish to purchase, such as Italian, Israeli, Chinese, Japanese, etc. Outside of Pokhara, your meals will be big Nepali style dishes, Dal Bhaat, twice a day plus snacks and tea in the afternoon.

I can’t make it to volunteer- how else can I help?
