She eats and plays well and mostly keeps to herself and can become very giggly and energetic at times. One must wait to be invited by Susmita in order to be able to engage with her in her world. Susmita is mature for her age; she knows she needs to do well in school and work hard to be successful in life. Her English is very advanced and she loves maths. Because of the language barrier, he does not always get along well with the other children. Heis an extremely sensitive young boy whose mood can shift very easily. At times he may become whiny, which most likely comes from frustration. He has a hard time with speech in both English and Nepali. He is making progress and improving when he works one on one with volunteers and teachers. He greatly benefits from the extra attention and needs so much love. Bardan loves to play jump rope and the monkey game.

Personality: Biraj is usually an outgoing kid with lots of energy. His favourite thing to do is play fight. He likes anything that is high energy, especially things that involve running around, and his attention span for things like arts and craft is slightly lower than the other children. He seems to be healthy for his age and enjoys showing off his MMA moves to the other volunteers.
He loves to be active and play outdoors with all of the other boys. His favourite games are ninja and the monkey game. He has two sides to him: one is very boyish where he can get himself into a bit of trouble and the other is extremely considerate with attention to detail and care for others. Just like the other children, he thrives on attention and the love of patient volunteers and caregivers.

Jamuna Nepali
Arrived at orphanage November 2011
Background: Living on the street and escaping abusive parents with alcoholism, Jamuna, her brother Abisek, and Rahul were all found together. Jamuna and Abisek's parents also are very poor and cannot afford to sustain themselves and their children.
Personality: Jamuna is the oldest of all the children at the orphanage. She engages with all the kids, in all games that would appeal to any of the children. She is a social butterfly who enjoys mingling with the boys, the girls and other children around the neighborhood whether it be in a match of football or a small game of badminton. Jamuna's education is behind for her age and this makes her feel a little self-conscious. She wants to be on the same level as other kids her age but is often discouraged from learning when she feels frustrated or confused. Rather, a more intimate and non-threatening environment is more suitable for Jamuna if one hopes to help her excel in Math and English. Overall she eats and plays very well and is a great older sister who is willing to share and teach the other kids new games or tricks.
As the oldest of all the children, Jamuna is an incredible big sister to everyone. Behind a rough exterior, she has a caring heart and is always looking out for the younger children. She is great in class but hesitant to answer questions because of a lack of confidence. Jamuna is a talented artist and enjoys drawing and henna tattoos.

9Abisek Nepali
Born in October 3, 2003
Arrived at orphanage November 2011
Background: Living on the street and escaping abusive parents with alcoholism, Jamuna, her brother Abisek, and Rahul were all found together. Jamuna and Abisek's parents also are very poor and cannot afford to sustain themselves and their children.
Personality: Abisek is the younger brother to Jamuna. He enjoys playing and finds anything is more enjoyable than doing schoolwork. Abisek has the hardest time out of all the kids concentrating and rarely can sit still long enough to focus on one small academic assignment. He can be very whiny at times, but is generally liked by the other children and volunteers.
Abishek has a hard time with academics in general; he is much further behind the others in his class. He needs special attention, and particularly requires one-on-one tutoring for his subjects. He is very emotional and the smallest things can trigger an episode. Despite his lower level of social skills, Abishek can be loving and tries to play and interact with all the other children.

1Susmita Ghale
Born in December 26, 2004
Arrived at orphanage when it began
Background: Sister of Biraj. Susmita and Biraj's father left their mother, and then their mother went with another man and abandoned the children.
Personality: Susmita is a very calm girl. She enjoys very girly things, like doing hair and makeup. She also likes to play cards and carom board, although if she can get away with it (especially with the younger ones who don't understand), she will try to cheat. She often times has trouble being honest when she thinks she might get in trouble or when she wants things to be her way, and can often be quite whiny. But when she is being good, she is well liked by everyone and generally very sweet.
She is an outspoken girl who likes to have all attention on her. She can be confrontational in order to get her way, especially at school, and often gets away with it. She is very close with the other girls, and is definitely a girly-girl. Susmita is a beautiful young girl, and with a little more control over her cheeky side she will be loved by all.

He has a joy for life that is subtle and calming and prefers to be away from noise and large crowds.
Manoj seems to be generally content but tends to keep to himself most of the time. He can be stubborn and reluctant when it comes to homework, but all he needs is a bit of encouragement, support and praise. Manoj is an adorable and sweet boy but his introversion keeps him from joining in activities with all of the other children.
