Category : News

We are four Spanish volunteers, have volunteered at The Love Company Orphanage we have no words to explain how wonderful it was being with lovely kids at this orphanage. We have enjoyed every moment with the kids and the staffs. Nisa was wonderful cook and she made very good Nepali traditional food. Santos was very friendly and Krishna is well educated person he is with love and compassion to all. While we were at the orphanage there was a school holiday and had opportunity to know all the kids. Thank you so much for accepting us and gave chance to learn Nepali culture and so much more. you are doing good work and keep on what you are doing.. We highly recommend for those who love children. Since the first moment kids were very friendly and we felt like home. We taught them some Spanish ,English and songs. Kids were always open to learn. It is a great place to volunteer. Give it a try!

Thanks For Giving Me Chance!

Category : News

May 17, 2011 Thanks For Giving Me Chance! Dear Volunteer friends,I am from Turkey was looking for volunteering overseas finally I ended up in Nepal at the Innocent Children Home. Before coming to Innocent Children Home I do not have any idea how it will be, I was ready for hard conditions but when I come here I see that it is a comfortable environment being with the kids is more different and nicer than I expected. Sometime it is hard to deal with them through time they know you become aware of their different interest and the activity they show it in different ways.If they feel your love they show you their love also. It is an experience I will never forget. Even I stayed here 2 weeks I had good memories here. I feel satisfied everyday it is something to tell about my experience. It was so good every moment and i also had another volunteer partner. I also want to mention that they took good care of me and and children. Children are warm here in this home. Thanks to Director Krishna Shantos , Apsara and Nisa. I will be back when sometime very soon and love to be with children again. Thanks once again for the Staffs of children home. dogaortakoylu@gmail.com

My Experience

Category : News

My experience at the Innocent Children Home has been really great I loved being able to live in the same home as the kids be able to help in the kitchen, put kids after dinner to bed,I enjoyed playing with the kids, brought children to school and brought back to home after school hours,I also enjoyed bringing water from water tank near by ,I played with them in the play room with the children, washed their hand before food, requested to wash their feet before bed time, remind them to brush their teeth after meals. Picking vegetable from the garden. The tourist area Lake side is only 30 minutes walk from orphanage when we had free time we enjoyed our time in lake side main tourist area in Nepal .We could see the Himalayas from our orphanage very amazingly beautiful,I did 5days trek to Ghorepani Guide arranged by by the orphanage staff. The staff were very friendly and kind. When the kids are at school we relaxed at the orphanage. The thing they need most is daily encouragement I am going to miss the time I have had here very much. I highly recommend anyone to volunteer there and get most. Rachel email: raychel019@bellsouth.net

So Many Great Memories !!!

Category : News

Volunteering at the innocent orphanage has been an incredible experience; a month almost doesnt feel long enough. The first thing that struck me was how welcoming all of the kids were, there are 11 of them in total, all totally different characters, but all special in their own right. The staff, as well, who work in the orphanage, or for it, are also extremely helpful there s always someone to call whenever any questions arise and there s always someone to help you out if you wanted to plan any activity in Pokhara without having to pay the excessive tourist prices at lakeside. The orphanage really welcomes you into their family and I feel very privileged to have been able to spend time there. I will never forget this experience and will definitely be coming back as soon as I can because I have made so many great memories that I hope I will never forget. all the best Kate

Volunteer Testimonial One Month Volunteering Lucy Scarlett Strutt 03 January at 10:32 Report Hey Krishna, hope this is ok for the testimonial you requested One month at the Innocent Childrens home, and what a month it was. We fell in love with the kids instantly, each have there own individual character from the charming and energetic to the quiet and reserved but all requiring the same love and attention that every child deserves. There have been a vast number of changes and improvements made over the last few months thanks to previous volunteers in terms of how the orphanage operates, from daily routines to the childrens behavior and it is only through the constant supply of volunteers that this system can continue successfully. Any experience like this inevitably changes your perspective on life and will stay with you forever. We plan to return in the near future to see how the kids have developed and grown with the support of those willing to help. So we urge everyone, with experience or not, to spend time at the orphanage and we guarantee that you will find it incredibly difficult to leave. struttyastuff@hotmail.com

Volunteer Testimonial !!! Erin Erin hello krishna, this is my review for the website I spent a month at innocent children orphanage, Pokhara, and loved every minute of it. The eight kids, aged 1-10, are all amazing and love having volunteers there. In an average day, we would get up around 7 ten downstairs by 7.30. Often in the mornings we would go into the classroom, and do drawing or the alphabet. The older children would sometimes do their homework there as well. Then dhal baat around 9, help clean up and take the kids to school. All except the one year old are at school or pre school, so when itis not holidays it is pretty quiet in the day. Sometimes we would stay around, other times we would go out for the day, to Lakeside or to see other parts of Pokhara. School finishes at 3, and after that snack time then play until dhal baat in the evening. One volunteer bought a bicycle, and this provided many many hours of fun, but you can do anything the children want. One time I brought down my ipod and we had a bit of a dance party which was lots of fun. Dinner is around 8, then help put the kids to bed, clean up, and off to bed ourselves by 9, ready to do it all again! We also had a few outings, which the kids really loved. We took them to Fewa lake a few times, and boated across and went paddling, and up the nearby hill for a picnic another day. I had a very enjoyable time here, you feel like a part of the orphanage and very welcomed, and also needed. It is a very nice and rewarding place to volunteer, and I would definitely recommend it. erin-perin@hotmail.com Australia

Volunteer Testimonial !!! Crystal Crystal Crystal Kenda s story In October 2009, I went to Nepal and volunteered at an orpahage located in Pokhara. It was an amazing and rewarding experience. The name of orphanage is called Innocent Children Home. The home was built of rock and bricks with marble floors and counters. The home had 8 children from the ages of 4 12, and a Nepalese house mom. The 3 older boys Naryan, Silas, and Santosh went to school Sunday Friday while the remaining 5 children ages 4 8 Susmita, Biraj, Akiti, Manmaya, Ek Bhadour stayed at the house all day. As a volunteer I helped teach the children about proper hygiene such as brushing their teeth, bathing on a regular basis, and changing their clothes daily. I helped around the orphanage with gardening, washing clothes, cooking and teaching the children at home basic English reading and writing. I wanted to do something for the children in the orphanage so before I went I collected donations at work Devon Canada and had a large duffel bag filled with things for the children. I had balls, play dough, clay, foam airplanes, toothbrushes, pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, stress balls, workbooks, story books, addition and subtraction tables, basic elementary reading and writing books, a blow up globe, sparklers, and much more. The look on the childrens face when I opened the bag was unforgettable. It was amazing to see what simple things like a pencil and eraser could do for a child when they have nothing. The directors of the organization were grateful and hung the Canadian flag which I brought for them up in the orphanage. The four older Children were fairly good at English and were really motivated to learn the language. I could have spent every minute I was there writing the alphabet and counting with them. The younger children had a short attention span so I would set up stations with different activities and every 5 minutes have them move around and work together on different activities. The 4 and 5 year old were able to write the alphabet from A-J while the 8 12 year old could do the entire alphabet both upper and lower case plus count to 100. It broke my heart that Manmaya the 8 year old was not in school, this was because they couldnt afford to send her and she was a girl. I put a lot of time into working with her because I could tell she wanted to go to school and although she loved the younger children.

Nepal Report !

Nepal Report
NEPAL 2012
A report by Leonie Hacker (19.2. – 25.3.2012) and Harriet Fruehling  (19.2. – 11.3.2012) retelling our time at the Love Company Orphanage.
Sunday evening we arrived at the orphanage after 6 hours Bus Trip. Excited, because we didn’t know what we have to expect, was the first impression of those lovely children really reassured.
They involved us directly in their games and their daily structure. Happy, that they have been so interested in us, the two new Volunteers from Germany, we answered every question. The nice atmosphere of the orphanage and also the reason, that other volunteers were staying with us in the house let us finishing our first day with a good impression.
Today, a few weeks later we are laughing about our unsure feelings in the first days. We have now a second family!
We are enjoying playing, eating, teaching and talking with the children and do the same with their friendly house mommies.
Pokhara made it easy for us to feel “at home”.
Our day structure starats every morning with a breakfast together with the children, the volunteers and the mommies.
After helping them to dress up for school we are bringing them all together to school.
Now our free time is starting. We use those hours for washing clothes, reading a book, meet with other volunteers or just for having a cup of tea.
Around 2 o’clock or 2.30 we pick up the children and and bring them back to the orphanage. Until the dinner is starting we help them with their homework, train them in spelling or new vocabularies and play with them.
Dinnertime is around 5 o’clock and we made them, like before every eating time, washing their hands. Because it gets dark outside really soon we use the last minutes outside for playing before we go into the house for drawing, dancing or just listening to music.
Around 7 o’clock we are helping them with cleaning their teeth, washing hands and feet and look that they change clothes.
We got to know the kids really close and we are sometimes surprised that this happened in such a short time. We both would never want to miss  our time in the Love Company Orphanage and we are happy about our experiences in Nepal.
We want to  say THANK YOU to Krishna, Santos and the two House Mommies. They are all doing a great job and we are glad, that the children are having them.
We will miss you all,
Leonie & Harriet

Second Time Visit !!!

hi krishna,
how is everything in pokhara going? the kids still doing well? same volunteers?
here’s my short writing that you wanted:

went back for the second time to visit the kids at innocent children. i was very happy to see everyone, and that the kids were doing well. with 15 kids now it gets pretty busy, apsara and nisha definitely have their hands full! volunteering here is a lot of fun, the kids really seem to like having extra people around to play with. typical day volunteering has some colouring or games, then breakfast, kids to schoool, bit of cleaning then free time, til kids back, homework, games, eating bed. not too too hectic, and really enjoyable. had a fantastic time there, and so glad i went back a second time.

all the best krishna,
Erin

Experience Of Life Time !

Experience of a lifetime! Wow, two months in Pokhara sharing in and contributing to daily life at the Innocent Children Home orphanage – what a privilege and a delight. My son Nathan and I loved becoming part of this big family and would do it all over again in a heartbeat. We experienced all the ups and downs to be expected when caring for ten children between 15 months and 11 years old – accidents, squabbles, tears, fun, games, laughter, all combining to make a rewarding experience. I would thoroughly recommend anyone, young or old, to take time to volunteer at the orphanage. The children have heartbreaking backgrounds but are now being provided with a stable and happy home. Every volunteer can bring their own talents, strengths, and most importantly love to the home. What you contribute will be unique and will be valuable in its own way. If you want to email me directly please do so – I can send you some documents a group of us developed while there Frequently Asked Questions, Info For Volunteers describing routines, roles and responsibilities, and Profiles of the children. Volunteer now, you wont regret it!!

My Time in the Innocent children home was amazing and full with love and child care .I have enjoyed every moment of life in this children home.Kids in the children home are very very happy and joyful with so little they have and fun with nature.Touching them and playing with these kids was just like the real God has come to you and talking to you ,playing with you, sharing many thing with you, loving to you and make you think about our life in the west,When these children in this country are happy with so little they have. It was a great adventure for me i became part of this family, the kids will be in my heart for ever. the avrage day waking up about 7 although the kids sometimes wake up at 6 or when ever sun comes up.They do homework and play until our Nepali friend ,Rajiv, comes and tutor them they learn mathematics,Nepali language ,and English alphabet .Afterall this at about 8.30 or 9 Am we eat Dal Bhat ,rice and lentils, sometimes with tasty locally grown fresh vegetable. At 9.45 I walk the kids to school, when I return from school it is time to clean the big mess.sweeping, washing dishes and re organazing the kithen. When this is done I have 4 hours free to relax or explore Pokhara.Sometimes I go to the busy part of the city Near post office there I do shopping and eat for change.Sometimes I go to swimming in the lake ,occasionally i go to cyber to check my email.at 3 O,clock the kids finish their school so I go to pick them up then it is play time till dinner at that time i am a peacekeeper and sometimes I am a monaster after kids finish their dinner they need to brush their teeth I just remind them ,befor the beds they need to go for pee. If you are thinking about bringing gifts for the kids, toys wount last a week.Better gift is tasty fresh local vegetables, sometimes meat, fruits, snacks to bring to school clothes like paints. My friend Weihan and I bought hens for daily eggs. This orphanage and kids are complete delight.I will be back soon to volunteer again in this children home by the time i come they will be grown up.
